Modernfold Chicago recently completed the installation of two high-performance operable walls for the new amenity space at 77 West Wacker, designed by architect SCB and built by general contractor DW Hammer.

The first system is a Modernfold Encore automated horizontal folding partition, measuring 38 feet long by 9 feet high with nine panels. It features a System STC of 54, a No. 30 track and drive system, two keyed control stations and panels finished in Carnegie Xorel Sahara Matte Colorway 602 with white hinges and smoke gray trim.

The second system is a Skyfold Zenith Premium, measuring 35 feet by 9 feet high. The three-panel-wide by four-panel-high configuration achieves a System STC of 55 and utilizes a Compact 90 drive unit to maximize ceiling height. Two touchscreen controls operate the system. Ceiling closure panels and the bottom row of panels are finished in bone white to complement the adjacent ceiling, while the remaining panels are finished with Carnegie Xorel Matte Colorway 602.

In one location we have a Modernfold Encore automated horizontal folding operable partition. It’s sized at 38 foot long and 9 foot high and utilizes nine panels. It has a system STC at 54, utilizes the number 30 track and drive system along with two keyed control stations. The panels are finished in Carnegie Xorel Sahara Matte Colorway 602. White hinges and smoke gray trim were also applied. Millwork pocket doors by others are also used.

In another area of the project, Skyfold Zenith Premium was used. The Skyfold Zenith Premium is sized at 35 foot long, 9 foot high, three panels wide, by four panels high plus our ceiling closure panels. It has a system STC of 55. We’re utilizing a compact 90 drive unit to maximize ceiling height along with two touchscreen controls. Ceiling closure panels and bottom row of panels are finished in Skyfold standard bone white to blend with adjacent ceiling finishes. The balance of panels are finished in Carnegie Xorel Sahara Matte Colorway 602.
