Exploring Skyfold Vertical Retractable Wall Options
When incorporating operable walls into your design, there are two primary categories: horizontal sliding and vertical retractable. In this blog, we will explore the different vertical retractable wall products available from Skyfold.
All Skyfold walls are automated, fold vertically into a ceiling pocket, and are acoustically rated. However, slight differences between each product may make one more appropriate for your project, depending on the space and design requirements.
Skyfold Classic™, Zenith®, and Zenith® Premium Series Are Solid Choices
Skyfold solid wall options offer soundproofing indexes that exceed industry standards. The Classic, Zenith, and Zenith Premium Series are available with STC (sound transmission coefficient) ratings of 51, 55, or 60 to help ensure that sound from one space does not disrupt adjacent areas.
The Classic™ Series
Skyfold’s flagship offering, the Classic series, offers the broadest range of sizes. If you have a space with ceilings higher than 14 feet (up to 36 feet), Skyfold Classic is your best bet. The Classic model operates with a robust pantograph lift system, enabling it to achieve greater ceiling heights compared to the Zenith and Zenith Premium models.
The Zenith® Series
The Skyfold Zenith series combines the vertically folding technology of the Classic Series with straight-down descent for enhanced flexibility. Because the folding operation occurs at the top of the wall, the resulting narrow path of travel means you don’t have to move bulky furniture to operate a vertical partition.
Zenith® Premium Series
Zenith Premium also features streamlined straight-down deployment, ideal for use in tight spaces with potential obstructions.
As an added benefit, Zenith Premium features closure panels that hide the ceiling pocket from view when the wall is in the down position. This feature helps create the illusion of a fixed wall when down, and when retracted, the ceiling maintains a level discreet appearance.
Easy-to-use LCD touchscreen controls come standard with the Zenith Premium series, making operation of the walls a breeze. Touchscreens are an upgrade option for Zenith and Classic Series.
Skyfold Mirage®and Prisma™ Have Clear Benefits
Lighting plays an essential role in mood and productivity and is a component of incorporating Well Building concepts. Skyfold offers two vertical glass partitions that allow light to penetrate rooms and hallways that might otherwise feel dark and isolated.
Mirage®
When you have an open design concept, Skyfold Mirage provides space separation without compromising the open concept. Mirage’s clean lines, lightweight structure, and wide range of glass or solid panels create a sophisticated yet welcoming environment.
With an STC rating of 33, high-efficiency acoustic seams, and opaque glass finish options, you can create a bright, connected space that still offers privacy for meetings, classes, collaboration, or independent work.
Prisma™
Skyfold’s Prisma is the latest product innovation in glass vertical partitions. Prisma’s elegant, streamlined design features a slim metal frame that doesn’t impede sight lines, so your space maintains an open feel even when divided. There are no wall or floor tracks with Prisma, so it is completely invisible when the wall is in the up position and stored in the ceiling.
Prisma operates with tapered-down deployment, making it an ideal option for tighter spaces with potential obstructions, which would typically limit the use of a vertically folding retractable wall.
To ensure privacy, Prisma has an industry-leading STC rating of 52 so confidential meetings, classes, and collaboration can occur simultaneously in adjacent spaces.
Prisma is also available with frosted glass and solid panels to match your space design.
